2 Chapel Hill Officers Earn Promotions

Chapel Hill will celebrate the promotions of two long-serving police officers.

Assistant Chief Chris Blue of the Chapel Hill police department says Bob Overton and Leo Vereen will be taking on new duties as well as new titles.

The pair will be officially promoted at a ceremony tomorrow night. Vereen has been a police officer for 11 years working as a sergeant and lieutenant in the Patrol Divison, while Overton has served for more than 25 year as the investigations supervisor and SWAT team commander.

In addition to recognizing superior work, Assistant Chief Blue says these promotions pave the way for more.

The ceremony takes place at 5:15 p.m tomorrow in the Council Chamber of Town Hall on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
